US President Signs Sanctions Renewal

United States President George W. Bush signed a bill on Tuesday, August 1 extending the country’s import restrictions against Myanmar.  After signing the bill, which was voted on by the US Senate last week, the president called on the international community and the United Nations “to join the United States in support of the people of Burma.”
